Arsenal will face Wigan Athletic tomorrow in their Carling Cup fifth round clash (assuming it doesn't blizzard all over London), with the winner through to the semi-final round.
Emmanuel Eboué is back, according to the official website, which is surprising given that his MCL was apparently damaged at Braga last week. The swelling went down, though, and it appears he escaped any lasting damage, so he's good to go.
Cesc Fabregas is still out for another ten days at absolute minimum, and Sebastien Squillaci apparently has picked up a knock on his knee, so he's out as well. Other than that, there is no new injury news.
Wigan made it to this stage of the Cup by defeating Preston and Swansea, and they have lost their last two League games to Manchester United and West Ham United. However, they have given Arsenal trouble recently, including a 3-2 fightback last season in the League.
The Carling Cup looks eminently winnable this year, and if the Gunners manage to get past Wigan tomorrow, they will be in the semifinal of a cup with Man U the strongest team left. West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Birmingham, and Ipswich Town are the other teams still involved.
[Programming note: due to an ill-timed appointment tomorrow, I will not be able to follow the match live. I am going to try to watch the match afterwards on the Arsenal TV Online. There will be an open thread, natch.]
Possible team for tomorrow:
Szczesny
Eboué Djourou Koscielny Gibbs
Song Denilson
Rosicky
Walcott Bendtner Arshavin
Craig Eastmond, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Samir Nasri, and Jack Wilshere all could feature...the above assumes Wenger will want to rest some key players, of course...
