So it appears that Thierry Henry will be pying what's left of his trade in MLS next season. So sayeth the NY Post and Sports Illustrated, anyway.
I’m excited that the Timbers are going to be in MLS next year so I can see him play again. The last time I saw him play in person was Cardiff 2001. That was…unpleasant. My enduring memory of that game was of him missing a couple stellar chances at the end where I was sitting, and then after the game watching Tony Adams basically have to pick him up because he was lying on the field sobbing inconsolably. Granted, he’s had a great career since, but that was a horrible day for him.
As much as I am annoyed at MLS for going after fading European stars, and not trying to develop or serve as a farm system for young untested European/S. American players in an effort to improve its quality of play, I’m glad that Henry is going to be playing here.
