Walcott cut from England squad
Well, this is surprising. He hasn't exactly lit the world on fire in the recent friendlies, but...Shaun Wright-Phillips?

Surprising, maybe not shocking, but surprising.
But hopefully this motivates him to score 30 goals next season.
I hope so, too
I think that a lot of fans, Arsenal and England both, have a picture of Walcott in their mind as a guy who flies up the wing, makes space for himself, and then puts in a cross two seconds late or in the wrong place. This is not necessarily inaccurate, and he does need to become more consistent. Nonetheless, I don’t know that anyone expected him to get cut. Also, sadly, this gives Spurs fans ammunition to hate on him. Not that it matters what they think…
I'm not really sure I'm surprised that Walcott was excluded
apart from the aforementioned inconsistency, he was hurt a lot of the year, so he didn’t get a big chance to wow Capello or the FA in any significant way. He’s only 21, so he’ll have a few more chances.

and as many have noted
His injuries could be related to the fact that both the senior squad and the U21s used the heck out of him during qualifiers last year and this. Lots of games, and then they don’t take him.
Ouch
The day Shaun Wright-Philips is ajudged to be a better choice for running down the right flank into the corner and doing nothing with it, is a day that better be the lowest point of your career.
Feel bad for Theo
It is actually pretty good news for us gooners. Less chance for him to get injured and be out for us. Although I’m not sure how much he would have played anyway. The last 6 or so players on WC rosters rarely play. Hopefully him and Samir will take the same route and let them push themselves to be even better next season to show why they should have been chosen. But a full restful offseason isn’t the worst thing in the world.
I agree that he wouldn't have seen much time
And I agree that he needs to find more consistency in his decision-making. I still think he can be one of the best wingers in the world if he refines that side of his game a little bit. How do we feel about Aaron Lennon?
I would rather him work on his game at Arsenal than in the England team though
and I’m not too upset about him missing the WC because, if you think about it, players that play in World Cups pretty much play soccer for two consecutive years/. The England team members had a week off after the season, then started training with England. They’ll get a week or two break after the Cup, then it’s right back to work with their clubs, so from July of 2009 until May of 2011 members of the England squad will have played non-stop.
Even at 21 that’s one mofo of a workload, and I’d just as soon Theo be rested and ready for the next Premiership season than to have gone to a World Cup.

Aaron Ramsey signed a new contract
To go along with the other 20 billion new contracts we’ve given to just about everyone. I’m pretty happy about this one though. Ramsey was looking like cracking the starting 11 before Ryan Shawcross Shawcrossed his leg. I hope that turns into a verb, it would be appropriate. Anyway here’s the
