Eduardo signs for Shaktar Donetsk

In a move that has been anticipated for a little while now, Croatia forward Eduardo da Silva has signed a four-year contract with Shaktar Donetsk, according to a report on the Ukranian club's official website.

At age 27, Edu should be reaching his peak now, but after his terrifying leg break at Birmingham City in 2008, he has struggled to replicate the promise the he showed upon his signing in 2007.  Of course, that didn't prevent him from scoring two goals that immediately stick out in the mind: that preposterous outside-of-the-foot volley into the opposite top corner against Burnley, and the crucial header against West Ham in the FA Cup last year.

Here's wishing Eduardo, a good player and a really good guy by all accounts, all the best in the Ukraine.

Good luck.

I hope this means Carlos Vela can make a good run at the squad. If he can keep injuries down, and focus, this could be his year.

I was really dissapointed

with his post injury play.

I really like the guy and before his injury I was convinced he was going to turn into a fantastic player but the toll it took was just too much.

Wish him good luck wherever he goes. Arsenal has plenty of depth with strikers at the moment considering that only 1 forward spot is really up for grabs. (Since Arshavin and Van Persie are guaranteed starting 11 whenever they are fit)
