Mark Schwarzer turns in transfer request
According to Sky Sports, Mark Schwarzer has turned in a transfer request in order to force Mark Hughes into giving him up and allowing him to move to Arsenal. I know Schwarzer isn't the sexiest keeper in the game but he's pretty darned solid. He'd give us at least a couple seasons before he had to retire and from what I hear he's a pretty good leader and good in the dressing room. So hopefully, he gets here sooner than later even though like the rest of our squad he's carrying a small injury. The fact that Almunia has played so little in the preseason has me believing he's probably on his way out. Being the most senior keeper we have and probably still our best, seeing Flappy Fabianski getting all the playing time makes me wonder.

I'm pretty sure that wasn't a formal transfer request
Just a desire to want to go to Arsenal, then Hughes came out and said he didn’t want to lose him, so now Schwarzer has turned in a formal request. That’s how I see it’s happened anyway.
I know arsene
has said he hasnt got in talks with shay but This article make me think he will have to look into him.
We could have had David James for nothing.
I hope Schwarzer still has it. He’s not looked impressive in pre-season… or at the World Cup.
But there’s an opinion going around that a GK isn’t our top priority, rather an exceptional CB who can organize the defense. And it’s more than worrying that nothing has been achieved on that front.
This.
it might not be a top priority
but still ’tis important.
