Ryo Miyaichi scores on his Feyenoord home debut
Recent Arsenal signee Ryo Miyaichi has scored in his first home match for Feyenoord Rotterdam today against Heracles Almelo. Young Guns has the report on Ryo's play today:
Indeed, minutes later, Feyenoord had opened the scoring. Diego Biseswar skipped away down the wing, he looked up, spotted Miyaichi and picked him out. Ryo chested the ball down, shifted possession from his right foot to his left, and drilled home. It was a super goal, showing a number of his qualities.
Ryo, of course, has come out of nowhere recently--rumors swirled around him since the start of the year, but the Japanese high schooler has flown mostly under the radar. That's probably all over now.
He should have had a second moments after. He accelerated away from two Heracles players on the wing, then beat another with some step overs, before unleashing a 20 yard pile driver, just tipped over. As half time approached, he did a similar thing again, but instead of shooting, he crossed. The ball worked its way out to the edge of the box to Biseswar. He cut inside and curled home number two.
Half time arrived with chants of "Ryo, Ryo, Ryo" echoing all over the De Kuip stadium.
Here's the video of his effort (h/t to Young Guns):

exciting
of course it’ll probably be 3 years before he gets his visa to play in the UK

RIP Boog. FIRE TLR NOW
I think if he starts playing for the national team Arsenal can reapply for a work permit, which would allow him to play in England immediately
If he keeps playing like this, I don’t think it’ll be that long before he gets called up.
Japan isn't that selective from what I can tell. Regular playing time for a club like Feyenoord should get him a few caps.
I think he should stay there for another year or two though. They develop youths just as well as we do and he will get many more opportunities there.
That is actually a really good goal. Great composure takes his time on the first touch and slots it in perfectly.
I’m now officially excited though still don’t expect much.
this is nuts
he’s still a highschooler and he just played a pro match in europe in front of 40k peeps!
This is like one of those crazy japanese sports cartoons, except its actually happening…

Dammit, he's not in Football Manager yet
Squeezed to Song and Bendtner and Song and Nasri oh lovely lovely lovely!
-Peter Drury, the one time his commentating has ever been acceptable.
It's nice that he's getting this level of experience for being so young.
Feyenoord being a top club in Holland(well maybe not this year) I didn’t think he’d be getting this amount of playing time this early. Hopefully, Ryo can put his head down and learn as much as he can while he’s there and not get caught up in the hype.
ugh failed. here it is...
