And so it begins
Andrei Arshavin has been deemed surplus to requirements. Now to find someone stupid enough willing to pay his £85,000 weekly wage bill.

I don't see any way we get back what we pait for him
unless we sell him to Man City.

we probably couldn't
but he’s made some valuable contributions during his time here, all the same, no?
If nothing else, we’ll always have 2-1 over Barca, and four goals at Anfield, and the Blackburn destruction of Paul Robinson, and celebrating by revealing a t-shirt with a graphic of himself celebrating…

He has
But I also think, considering how awesome he was in his first 6 months, he’s been a disappointment.
And, more worryingly, he seems to have lost pace
Squeezed to Song and Bendtner and Song and Nasri oh lovely lovely lovely!

Nice.
The saddest truth would be this:
The real problem with everything relating to Arsenal at the moment is that the media are desperate to pander to the disaffected. They know that an anti-Arsenal story is going to garner hits or sales whilst striking a chord with the current mood. In those circumstances, the ‘bad’ news is portrayed as ‘good’, in this instance cutting loose deadwood.
Spot on target that the decision to sell Arshavin would break down as a “showy move” rather than an “intelligent” one. I further agree that if you are going to send a message to the young players that they need to get better or be sold, then sell the younger players. I’m sure there is a German team that would buy and make good use of Bendtner.
And to keep everything consistent...
Wenger tells reporters he expects Arshavin to stay. Perhaps the “and so it begins” refers to the utter confusion that surrounds anything transfer-wise at Arsenal.
Everyone – look busy! Summer Transfer window is open!
