Hello all, my name is B Money, and I'm new fan of AFC. Since this is really just a cry for help, I'll keep it as curt and on topic as I can. I've been a casual soccer fan for roughly 3-4 years now. In the past, I was of the typical American opinion that soccer was "too slow" or "boring". Really though, the only reason I had was a terrible experience playing the game when I was 8 years old, and I swore it off until fairly recently. I reside in Seattle and once we were awarded an MLS team, I decided that I would force myself to sit down and re-learn the rules and try to appreciate what it was all about.
If you follow me after the jump, I'll try and finally ramble out my point.
It took me until this year to finally come around to the point that I consider myself "fanatical" about the sport. I'm first and foremost a Seattle Sounders FC fan, but I recognized that MLS soccer is a 2nd tier league at best. I needed to find a Premier League or La Liga team to latch on to. I took to the internet to decide on a team, and La Liga didn't provide many options. I was looking for a team with a rich history, but that wasn't in any way shape or form, Manchester related. I normally root for the underdog in all sports, but being so far away, I didn't want to risk latching on to a team that faced the real risk of relegation every year. So I decided that it was down to Chelsea and Arsenal. It was an easy choice, because who likes that much blue anyway?
So here is the meat of the post. What is Arsenal all about? Who's who in the starting XI? Who's your superstar, and who makes you nervous? Basically, what should a new AFC fan know about AFC? Tell me about why I should hate Tottenham and Chelsea (besides the blue thing)? Is this a London based blog, or a lot of you from the States? Will I get banned for having used the word soccer 3 (oops, 4) times? I want to assimilate myself into really following the team. Any help is appreciated!
