Arsenal youths Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henri Lansbury propel England U-21s to victory
England's U-21 squad dismantled the Israel U-21s today in a friendly, and Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was at the heart of the quartet of second-half goals for the Young Lions. Down 1-0 at halftime, Stuart Pearce brought on the young winger, freshly arrived to the Gunners from Southampton, and according to the ever-amazing Jamie Sanderson at Young Guns, his introduction put a charge into a noodly England side.
FT. England 4-1 Israel. Oxlade-Chamberlain's introduction at 1-0 down changed game. Three assists, plus he won a penalty. Brilliant.
Some of the highlights of the match can be seen at 101 Great Goals; AOC uses his pace well on the first goal to find room to float a cross over to Martyn Waghorn. The second goal is another AOC assist, but most of the work is done by Marvin Sordell, who absolutely flamethrowers one in from 35 yards. Lord love a screamer. Primus once asked "Is It Luck?", but in this case, nobody needs to know.
AOC then won the penalty that Aston Villa's Nathan Delfouneso converted before supplying the last pass for Arsneal loanee Henri Lansbury to turn home.
If Oxlade-Chamberlain can carry this form into his play for Arsenal, well, that would be nice.

I watched the game live and AOC played very well. His pace allowed him to run pass defenders with relative ease and his crosses were superb. The level of competition he will face in the Premier League is obviously much higher than the Israeli U21 squad, but AOC showed tremendous potential.
I finally got to see some highlights and I really like how he’s moving and distributing the ball for a winger. Excellent creation of those goals.
Also, I’d like to say, under the age of 22:
English: Walcott, Wilshire, Eastmond, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lansbury and Bartley if they return from loan.
Wales: Ramsey.
One could go on about youth and the problems Arsenal have had before, but if they hold on to these young, talented players we are looking at a generation of local boys playing for Arsenal. No dreaming of the warm sun of Spain or any homesickness or language barriers. This could be 90’s Manchester United like bonding here. After years of “the French team” or “foreign teenager” slights slung Arsenal’s way… I feel strangely good and optimistic (two horrible traits for a Gooner who knows disappointment) about these boys.
that's a good point
if they can gel together over the next two years, that would be nice. I’d like to think that players of different nationalities can bond just as easily, but when your captain wants to go home, it maybe doens’t help.
Chamberlin deserves a start against Swansea
Arshavin has been horrible and Gervinho is still suspended.

How is this even statistically possible?
How do our key players get hurt when no one else does?
This.
Hey, how about that.
Arsenal youth are performing well. I guess the future is bright after all.
Too soon?

Lots of Arsenal fans sit and complain about all the youth being brought in...
Clearly though, this kid is ready for first team starts, I’m looking forward to it already. Gervinho and AOC on the outside (or at least when Walcott is down and out), with RVP in the middle, could potentially be one of the best front lines in the EPL
