Never Manage Alone on the difference between Arsenal and Manchester United
Neal Thurman, who does excellent work over at Never Manage Alone, SBN's Fantasy Soccer blog, has put together a great piece about Arsenal and Manchester United. I meant to link to it the other day, but it slipped my mind--apologies for that.
Go check it out!

Sort of
although those other guys are all getting chances too. They’re just not taking them as well. Once they start to, things could get a lot better.
Well, I mean look at Arteta's numbers. I think they are only that high because he doesn't take too many shots.
And Gervinho has gotten fewer shots then is expected of him, too. Meanwhile, Walcott and Ramey have atrocious numbers.
Yeah.
I guess the whole “one man team” doesn’t bother me that much. It’s true in one sense, but it also oversimplifies the nature of soccer to such an extent that I almost find it meaningless, and thus don’t even care if it is true.
I totally agree. Song and Szezney are also incredibly important
However, goal scoring is extremely important and we all know that RvP has glass ankles. I mean, yeah, the one man team is of course inherently flawed and unrealistic, but it does highlight the inconsistency in Arsenal’s line up. Or, at least the consistently poor goal scoring from everyone who is not Dutch.
It's a good piece, but I question some of the conclusions drawn
And this is where football statistics fail sometimes (not that I’m providing a segway for a post on TSF in the near future or anything…).
Signing Steven Fletcher may solve one problem, but could start another, i.e, 4-4-2 and the creation of chances/defensively. Fletcher could be a better option off the bench than Chamakh or Park, and I’d welcome that, but he won’t solve the finishing problems of Theo and Rambo. Only signing better finishers, or them getting better at finishing, will fix that.
Arteta, it's all about the right pass it goes left to the left foot of VAN PERSIE
