Around SBN: 'You Just Have to Put Him to Sleep'

Sometimes I worry about the folks over at We Ain't Got No History. This both is, and is not, one of those times. Check it out.

I think it's funny and interesting

totally understand if some on both sides are totally averse to the idea. But I think I’d like to see how an Arsenal/Chelsea team would do without having that actually happen in real life.

PEOPLE DON'T LIKE KOSCIELNY

I AM DISAPPOINT

Odd, considering he is at minimum better than Luiz or Cahill.

I don't think he's better than Luiz

it’s close, but i think Luiz’ weaknesses are more correctable

by Ted Harwood on Jan 23, 2012 3:55 PM EST up reply actions

you have a glowing view of Luiz

but every time I watch him he’s a poor defender. Kicking people petulantly is not a job skill.

Luiz has a higher ceiling but right now Koscielny is definitely better. Kos can actually defend.

I like Luiz a lot more at DM rather than CB. He belongs there, he isn’t a terrific defender but he can make a tackle or two and he is great on the ball.

Its all reputation. Per is the BFG with loads of Germany caps and Koscielny is the random French twat who only has 1 international appearance.

by Roa on Jan 23, 2012 3:10 PM EST up reply actions

but it's like the same guys who say Per is terrible and slow and dumb

I wonder what they think about Kosc. Maybe they don’t think about him at all.

by Sabrina Dessipe on Jan 23, 2012 3:18 PM EST up reply actions

I like this idea

but man, people who don’t like Koscielny suck.

I'd really like the cannon firing at the lion

But that might not go over well over there
And really, you are actually going to make Terry the captain? Excuse me while I die of laughter.

by Adnan Ilyas on Jan 23, 2012 6:47 PM EST reply actions

No over there I want to see the reaction.

I said that I wouldn’t make JT it in case he’s a racist. Got no reaction.

by Sabrina Dessipe on Jan 23, 2012 7:06 PM EST up reply actions

And it's Cech

much easier than our keeper’s name

by Sabrina Dessipe on Jan 23, 2012 7:07 PM EST up reply actions

I never remember the name

It reminds me of Fabregas and I just end up getting confused

by Adnan Ilyas on Jan 23, 2012 7:10 PM EST up reply actions

Really?

It reminds me of the country which helps me to know where he’s from.. He’s czech I think…

by Sabrina Dessipe on Jan 23, 2012 7:14 PM EST up reply actions

I went for Terry as Captain and RVP as the Vice Captain because they're the respective...

…captains now, and JT’s been a captain longer. You can change anything you want in the database if you play it yourself, and I’ll be making a lot of decisions based on the opinions of users. That includes both WAGNH users and anyone here who wants to get involved.

I don't think a lot of my opinions would qualify as "politically correct"

At least not to Chelsea fans. So, I shall have to respectfully decline

by Adnan Ilyas on Jan 23, 2012 7:14 PM EST up reply actions

It was really more of a default decision rather than any sort of statement.

I’ve tried to average out decisions for the most part, rather than choosing one side or the other.

I think it would just be Tottenham

I mean, come on, leeds is in the Championship and don’t look to get out. They just flat out suck right now.

by Adnan Ilyas on Jan 23, 2012 7:26 PM EST up reply actions

what's the problem with that? :P

Sometimes

There are plenty on both sides who hate the other too much to have fun with this.

by Sabrina Dessipe on Jan 23, 2012 7:25 PM EST up reply actions

I'm not a hater, but I don't really have the time and patience for it all

I also don’t know the Chelsea line up that well to be very fair.
But one thing, don’t start Torres.

by Adnan Ilyas on Jan 23, 2012 7:27 PM EST up reply actions

Arshavin isn't in the combined squad anyway!

There is no danger of bringing him on for anyone.

Actually Arshavin is a monster on football manager.

Gets injured too much though. Lead the league in both assists and goals by November in my first season before he got hurt and missed games until March.

by Roa on Jan 25, 2012 9:46 AM EST up reply actions

RVP, Drogba, Sturridge...yep. No room for Torres.

I'd like to get you guys involved in this if you're willing.

I think having Arsenal voices in a project about a fictional merger of the club will make it better. I’ve tried to be pretty fair, and not overly favour Chelsea, but I’d like some feedback. You can download the .dbc here. To use it, you put it in C: > Users > [Your Computer User Name] > Documents > Sports Interactive > Football Manager 2012 > editor data. You can then either check it over in the editor or just load it in the game. Any feedback would be appreciated.

And also, to anyone who doesn't have FM 2012 yet

I believe (I could be incorrect) that the .dbc file will work for FM 11, and maybe even FM 10

Will it?

I know they used .dbc files too, but I didn’t think they’d be compatible. I’ll try it with my FM10 and let you know if it works.

by Kevin Kostka on Jan 23, 2012 9:58 PM EST up reply actions

Unless there's a way to work around it I don't know, you can't.

It won’t recognise the file, since it’s based on the FM12 default database. I wish it was possible, but I don’t think so.

Author and Official Fernando Torres Apologist for We Ain't Got No History!

by Kevin Kostka on Jan 23, 2012 10:07 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah it isn't.

If they made the databases backwards compatible there wouldn’t be enough of a reason to buy the newFM every year.

by Roa on Jan 25, 2012 9:48 AM EST up reply actions

Hmmm....

I’ve done similar things before with databases as .xml’s (but not with FM12).
