Arsenal: Positive Jam(s)
I've been far too negative about the Arsenal lately, both in my mind and on the blog. So, herein and below, I shall only list the positive things I feel about Arsenal right now.
Everyone listening to the above? Good. Here we go:
- Arsenal are NOT queueing up for soup and scabby sores.
- Bacary Sagna is back in full training.
- Kieran Gibbs is not far behind him.
- Jack Wilshere, when he returns, will be fresh and angry, and he's just what Arsenal need in the center of midfield right now.
- Thomas Vermaelen may soon get to move back to center half next to Laurent Koscielny.
- Arsenal have no flappers -- at least not in the starting lineup! Hey-o! Fabianski joke!
- Robin van Persie is still a deadly finisher.
- Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a fun guy to watch run around doing football-related things on a football pitch.
- He is also very good at doing those football things like kicking footballs hard and passing footballs accurately to his fellow football guys.
- Gervinho isn't gone forever and offers some things Arsenal could use.
- Arsenal are above approximately 150 other professional English football clubs in the table. Things could be worse (could be stabbed).
- Arsenal have a ton of money, which is more than most clubs can say.
- Arsenal are not the Minnesota Vikings.
- If they play their cards right, Arsenal will slowly be able to clear choking wages off their books and slowly build a new wage structure.
- The players are holding team meetings to try to sort things out.
- Arsenal are still in the Champions League (I can think of two clubs that are no longer in the Champions League).
- Nico Yennaris.
- Still have home matches against Spurs, Chelsea, City, and Newcastle.
STAY POSITIVE

Well then...
…it’s time for the Arsenal Peoples Front and the People’s Front of Arsenal to join together in support.
I like "Stay Positive"
mostly because it’s the first album of theirs I heard, and also “One for the Cutters” is about Bloomington. So that’s cool.
The other songs are also good. I like good things.

Its not that they ever became “bad” its that …Almost Killed Me sounded like a mad man ranting at you from the back of the bus while a riff-heavy bar band went to work on the stereo. The subsequent albums sounded more and more generic. They missed( that it was the odd juxtaposition and out-of-placeness of the “singing” that made them so revelatory. Yeah Tad Kubler is still awesome, but all Finn does these days is whinge.
I think once Franz Nicolay left it changed the band for the worse
He gave them a texture and a sonic profile that elevated them above the traditional three chord bar band. Now they basically just sound like that three chord bar band – not bad, I happen to like that sound, but not remarkable.
Interesting note: Nicolay said that Stay Positive was his favorite according to wikipedia.
It’s been 4 years(!), maybe its worth another spin.
So I wrote this in 2005, so don't judge me

I WILL judge...
That’s actually quite an interesting piece. It is amateurish but it’s also obvious you have an idea of that which you’re writing about and, more then that, have something to add to the subject. I agree that “Stevie Nix” is the standout.
But you really have improved. It’s really easy to forget that writing is a skill at which you can get better. Without the byline I really wouldn’t have guessed that the same guy was responsible for that piece and this blog.
I pledge not to foist any of my writing from 7 years ago upon any of you.
It has nothing to do with the Arsenal squad/season, but it sure made my night so I will share in hopes others can enjoy it.
In my FIFA12 manager mode with Hamburg, following a 5th place finish and cup final appearance, I was offered the Spurs manager position. If only we could send customized responses.
