They might as well be playing volleyball - Clive Rose
It's been a long week for Arsenal - both on and off the pitch - and they try to right the ship in tomorrow's league encounter versus their crosstown opponent, Queens Park Rangers
Last Saturday, on the road versus relegation-challengers Norwich City, Arsenal came into the match full of confidence and swagger, perhaps believing it was more a birthright and foregone conclusion that they walked out of Carrow Road with three points in hand and people quivering just by their mere presence. Instead, we looked very much like this:
That match stunk in every conceivable way, but we are the Arsenal and surely we'd find a way to respond in front of our supporters at the Emirates in the Champions League match versus Schalke, right? Well, um...
Then came the comments regarding the state of the club, and the lovely AGM that occurred the day after:
I really don't have much to add other than this is a club that's clearly reeling and desperately needs to cure whatever's struck them down. It's not going to help that Kieran Gibbs, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, along with Wojciech Szczesny, will more-than-likely miss the match tomorrow, which means everyone's favorite Brazilian Andre Santos will grace the pitch and be the punching bag for everyone's frustrations (deservedly so, in some cases). However, with those injuries, along with the mid-week match, I'm holding out hope that Jack Wilshere returns to the squad and provides them the much-needed boost at a time when the club's desperately searching for someone to step up and start kicking ass. Truthfully, it doesn't matter who our opponent is; whether we sneak out with a close win or completely humiliate QPR as a way to atone for the last seven days, a victory tomorrow will have me in a state much like this:
Beer of the Week: Again, no beer for me. Kids, especially newborns, can really kill what little free time you think you have. But be rest assured, after tomorrow, I'll have quite a few to report on. In place of beer, here's my stand-in:
A Possible Lineup:
Mannone
Jenkinson - Mertesacker - Vermaelen - Santos
Wilshere-Arteta-Podolski
Cazorla - Giroud - Gervinho
Prediction: Arsenal 3, QPR 2
