I was thinking the other day about Saving Private Ryan. You see, I'm a pretty big film fan - I managed a video store for six years back when that was a thing, and I've seen a billion movies more or less, and I really like watching films and going to the movies and all that. But I've never seen Saving Private Ryan. I have no reason not to - I like Tom Hanks, I am OK with war movies, and by all accounts it's a good film, I've just never caught up with it.
That, of course, got me into List-Making Mode, and I put together a list of five films I probably should have seen by now, given my self-identification as a Movie Guy, that I haven't, for whatever reason. They are (in no particular order whatsoever):
- Saving Private Ryan
- Sunset Boulevard
- Some Like It Hot
- On The Waterfront
- Citizen Kane
There are a bunch more, but those are the big five that I keep meaning to see but haven't managed to just yet. And I mostly put Citizen Kane on the list over, say, Gone With The Wind, which I also haven't seen, so I could link to this.
What about you? In the realm of something that you love, be it music, movies, books, sports, traveling, or whatever, is there something iconic or legendary that you know you should probably see, read, or experience that for whatever reason, you haven't yet?
Anything else on your mind this week?
