Gunnerblog posted an interesting interview with Phillipe Auclair today, in which he talks about Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, the French League's decline (and how that relates to Arsenal), and Thierry Henry (the article was published in conjunction with the release of Auclair's book on Henry).

One of the most interesting parts of the article is this quote:

"It looks that way, but I hope that’s not the case. The final chapter was written, and beautifully, last year. There’s no way that a Thierry in his 36th year can do better than what he did eleven months ago, especially when the club has more attacking options than was the case in 2011-12. He would in no case represent a ‘solution’; whereas last year, given the van Persie-dependance, he could make a difference at times."

I have to say that I agree; I love Thierry and what he did for the club, but he's 36 now, and the Premier League gets faster and more intense every season. MLS is a decent league, but it's not a place Arsene should be looking for attacking talent, at least as a sole solution. Buy a striker AND pair him with a spot-starting Henry (are spot starts a thing in soccer?), and that's OK; Henry as your only, temporary solution to Arsenal's attacking woes is not.

I love seeing Thierry Henry in an Arsenal shirt, but I want to see more permanent solutions first.
