Harvey, who's managed Arsenal Ladies for more than four years, moves to Seattle.
Laura Harvey, manager of an Arsenal Ladies team that has won three league titles, two Continental Cups, and one FA Womens Cup, is set to become the first manager of the newly-formed NWSL side Seattle Reign (whose logo, if you haven't seen it, is awesome).
There is no word yet about who will take over for Harvey, who has brought along some amazing players as well as working with legends Faye White, Kelly Smith, and Emma Byrne. Vic Akers is Ladies' General Manager at the club, as well as being the manager before Harvey took over, and he's no slouch himself, but whether he wants to return to management at this time is unclear.
The NWSL formation, of course, represents a bigger challenge for Arsenal Ladies in many ways: much of the talent currently in London may decide to try their hand in North America--Kelly Smith, for instance, played four seasons with the Boston Breakers in between stints at Arsenal. It remains to be seen what players will end up where, but it could present some challenges for Arsenal.
Nonetheless: best of luck to Laura Harvey on her Pacific Northwest adventure!
