Arsenal midfielder Craig Eastmond loaned to Wycombe Wanderers for rest of season

According to the club's official site, Arsenal midfielder Craig Eastmond has joined League One side Wycombe Wanderers for the remainder of the season on loan. Eastmond looked to be a hot prospect when he made two Premier League appearances along with an FA Cup and two Carling Cup appearances in 2009-10, and he played a match in the Champions League last year. More after the jump:

Arsene Wenger and the coaching staff must've been seeing something they didn't like, though, because Eastmond had yet to feature for the senior team outside of that one European match and a Carling Cup sub appearance last year, and has not seen senior action at all this year.

A versatile player whose main position is in the center of midfield, Eastmond can also play rather comfortably at right back. He joined Milwall on loan last year, but another year on loan in his age-22 season does not bode well for Eastmond's Arsenal future. At a time when Arsenal have been short at right back in particular, Eastmond staying in the reserves while Nico Yennaris saw time against Manchester United suggests the writing is on the wall for the young Englishman. Still, hopefully he does well at Wycombe until the end of the year and finds some of the form that made him look a good prospect a couple of years ago.
