I recently got a Kindle Touch, and I really like it. I can get library books with it, there's thousands of classics I can get for free, and most e-books are significantly cheaper than paper books (and of course easier to store). I will never stop buying physical books - I live in the home of Powell's City Of Books, which is the single most awesome bookstore ever - but I do love having the Kindle for traveling and library checking-out and that sort of stuff.

I'm not really a gadget guy - a friend of mine and I are in a race to see who the last person on earth to own a smartphone will be (and I'm going to win!), I haven't played video games in forever, and the closest I get to sophisticated mobile technology is my iPod Nano (which I love and will do until the day I die).

I have nothing against gadgets, per se - I see the benefits of most of them, I just don't really need them. If I still traveled as much for work as I used to, I'd absolutely have a smartphone, but since I sit on my butt at a desk in front of a computer all day and have two computers at home (one upstairs, one down - I'm not a total technophobe!), I really don't need or want that 24/7 level of connectivity. And I see no utility in having every song I own with me at all times - I have about 3TB of music at home on hard drives (yes, they're backed up and redundant (obligatory CrashPlan plug!)- that's a lesson one only need to learn once!) so it's not really practical to have "all" my music with me anyway.

What about you? What's your favorite gadget, or electronic thingy? What else is worth talking about this week? Any picks for the Stanley Cup? I kinda want the Kings to win, but I have no strong feelings one way or the other about either team so if they don't that's fine too. Neutrality can be fun!
