Youngsters Hector Bellerin, Serge Gnabry, Martin Angha, and James Shea join vets Andrei Arshavin, Andre Santos, Theo Walcott, and Olivier Giroud for the squad to run out in League Cup third round.
Arsenal have announced their 18-man squad for the match today, and there is a healthy mix of old and young on the list. The squad is as follows:
Andre Santos, Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sebastien Squillaci, Johan Djourou, Francis Coquelin, Andrey Arshavin, Emmanuel Frimpong, Marouane Chamakh, Damian Martinez, Martin Angha, Hector Bellerin, Thomas Eisfeld, Serge Gnabry, Ignasi Miquel, James Shea, Nico Yennaris.
There is no Kristoffer Olsson as predicted in yesterday's match preview, so one would expect that lineup with probably Serge Gnabry slotted into Olsson's spot in midfield, given Wenger's talking-up of him before the match. Emmanuel Frimpong is also an option, but given his recent return from a torn ACL, a start seems less likely than a substitute appearance later in the match. If Squillaci comes anywhere near the pitch, I'd be very surprised. Martinez should start in goal behind a line of Yennaris, Djourou, Miquel, and Santos.
Giroud will lead the line, most likely, and let's hope he bags four or five goals and gets the boulder rolling downhill.
