Please don't deprive punny headline writers of the chance to write about Villa playing against Villa - Jasper Juinen
Barcelona have insisted that David Villa is not for sale in January. Arsenal ask "How do you like that nice Cesc Fabregas you got?"
David Villa has Barcelona DNA. The difference between Villa and Cesc Fabregas, though, is that Villa's Barca DNA was picked up by osmosis from Villa's seat on the Barca bench, which had been sat on by other players. Arsenal were rumored to be very interested in David Villa this transfer window, but Barcelona president Sandro Rosell went on Barcelona sports talk radio today and said:
"I completely rule out the transfer of Villa during the winter market...he is ours and we need him, there is a lot of the season left."
Stop me if any of this sounds familiar. Team A wants Player A, Team B says that Player A is not even remotely available, and then a couple weeks later, Player A buggers off to Team A. I'm not saying that Villa to Arsenal is a done deal, but I would also stop short of saying it's dead at this point. If Arsenal have money to spend and are serious about wanting Villa, they could get him. So, as usual, ball's in your court, Arsene; are you serious enough to turn Barca's opinion around?
