I guess you could say I'm kind of a movie buff. I managed a video store (that's right, kids, there was a time when people went to actual, physical stores to rent movies! On video tapes!) for seven years, and ever since that I've been very into the whole film thing. So, this is Oscar season; I'm not a huge fan of the Oscars themselves, but my wife is, so we watch them. I do, however, like to see as many of the nominated films as possible.
The other day, we realized that due to a combination of recurring illnesses, new jobs, and general busy-ness, we hadn't managed to see a single Best Picture nominee. This is unacceptable! Fortunately, Regal Cinemas is coming to our rescue - for $30, on Saturday we're seeing four of the nine Best Picture nominees - Django Unchained, Zero Dark Thirty, Silver Linings Playbook, and Argo.
That's right - on Saturday, I am going to see four films. In a row. On the same day. I can't decide whether I'm excited or terrified - that's a long time to sit around in a theater. Argo comes out on video this Tuesday, so we may bail after three movies depending on how we're feeling. But either way, Saturday is Movie Engorgement Day; we should be able to catch up with the rest of them during next week between video releases and theater showings.
Are you a movie fan? Any favorites from 2012, or favorites in the Oscar race?
Anything else going on this week?
