The 2012/13 season has been rough on Arsenal Nation, especially those who thought there was a chance to end the eight year trophy drought.
Of course, there was little if any hope of claiming the EPL title as teams like Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea have a clear advantage in talent.
Aspirations to win the Champions League were little more than a farce, so there was little shame in losing to the German giants Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
But being dumped out of the Capital one Cup by 4th Division Bradford City in December was embarrassing, and the FA Cup elimination at the hands of Blackburn last week wasn't much better.
So how upset should Arsenal fans be?
Arsene Wenger rolled out his best players in every elimination match, and his most recent transfer signings have all contributed as much as could have been reasonably expected. To be clear, these were not world-class players.
Mertesacker has helped Arsenal's defense restore some dignity since the 8-1 mauling to United last season, Podolski and Giroud are approaching double digit goals, Cazorla has had some sharp moments, and Arteta has been a decent utility player at the holding midfield position.
Arsenal fans have every right to be upset with the team's performance against Bradford and Blackburn, but little else. The quality of talent on the roster just doesn't match the quality of the stadium, much less the exorbitant ticket prices.
So if you feel that you've been paying too much for tickets to games at the Emirates, it's because you have. Arsenal will not be competing for titles any time soon, and the Arsenal hierarchy, including Arsene Wenger, are laughing all the way to the bank.
