Jack Wilshere injury: Arsenal mid subbed off early

Stay connected for news and updates

Clive Brunskill

The Arsenal midfielder was limping noticeably as he came off in the 50th minute after receiving a good deal of tackles.

Jack Wilshere had to leave Arsenal's English Premier League match early today due to injury. He had been on the receiving end of a number of solid tackles, and was limping noticeably when Arsene Wenger elected to sub him off for Abou Diaby in the 50th minute. After his performance for England on Wednesday, it may have been in the plans for him to exit early all along, but the hobbling probably wasn't in the plans for the Gunners.

Right now, there are no reports about the extent of the knock he took. It could have been precautionary to take him off, it may be a bruise that he will walk off in days; we just don't know right now. He clapped the fans as he came off under his own steam.

We'll keep you updated as we learn more. Right now, one has to think he's at least questionable for next weekend's FA Cup match against Blackburn Rovers.
