According to Sid Lowe on ESPN's Press Pass (beware: if you watch that too long, you'll seen Stewart Robson), there's a snag in the Gonzalo Higuain deal, but it should still happen and the sky is totally not falling so CALM DOWN OKAY.
Higuain was given permission to deal with Arsenal by Real Madrid, Lowe said, but Madrid have dug in their heels because they "basically want a bigger fee." But nonetheless, he said "the smart money is on this deal still happening," and on it being finalized relatively soon. Which I guess means Arsenal plan to offer a bit more money, and an actual negotiation will take place, and Florentino Perez won't try to screw us.
So essentially our Higuain status is Confident But Waiting. With a big deal like this, there are a lot of things to get straight, and it might take longer than expected, or wanted. I'm quite annoyed that it hasn't happened yet and my Higuain Arsenal shirt isn't on a DHL plane over the Atlantic right now, but until someone who's qualified tells me that I should worry, I'm not worrying.
